Drug name: Generic Tenormin (atenolol)

Therapeutic effects: Generic Tenormin exerts antianginal, antihypertensive and antiarrhythmic action .The medication possesses membrane stabilizing and sympathomimetic action, decreases the production of cyclic AMP from ATP.

Hypo-tensive effect is associated with decreasing cardiac output, decreased activity of renin-angiotensin system and sensitivity of baroreceptors. Hypotensive effects are manifested in reduction of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, decreasing of systolic output and pulmonary minute volume.

Antianginal effect is achieved due to decreasing heart.

Anti-arrhythmic action is related to suppression of sinus tachycardia and elimination of arrhythmogenic symphatic effects on cardiac conduction system.

Arterial hypertension, hypertonic crisis
